ALGO DE HISTORIA...

La Alpujarra fue colonizada sucesivamente por los pueblos ibero-celta, por el Imperio Romano, y por los visigodos. En el siglo octavo los árabes conquistaron España y el sur de la región se mantuvo en sus manos mas de 800 años, pero fué en los últimos 150 de ese periodo, durante la reconquista de la región, cuandoe convirtió en un refugio del pueblo musulman, donde, mantuvieron su cultura  durante casi 150 años después de la caída de Granada en 1.492.

Bayarcal  adquirió entidad propia allá por el 1572, cuando Felipe II venció a los moriscos sublevados de la Villa de Ynizar, entonces la más importante, y la hizo destruir.

 BIT OF HISTORY...

La Alpujarra was successively settled by Ibero-Celtic peoples, by the Roman Empire, and by the Visigoths. In the 8th century the Moors conquered southern Spain and the region remained in their hands for over 800 years but it was in the last 150 years of that period that it became heavily populated as the Reconquista conquered all Muslim controlled lands in the mid 13th century, except the Emirate of Granada. The region became a refuge of the Moors, where, as Moriscos, they maintained a distinct culture for nearly 150 years after the fall of Granada in 1492.
